Farmer's Story

Featured Farmer: Remico’s Farm

This is where we are now

From ORGANIC MARKET to DIRECT CONSUMERS

Before…

They got their own resources to run a business - farming.

But they always hope to get a good harvest, to be able to sell the produce at a good price, not to be perished by bad weather and to be able to pay their debts. As part of their journey in an Organic Market, they got a small group of target market and mostly are middlemen they rely on, so they can sell and get profit from. Unfortunately, middle men aren’t consistent with getting produce from them - where they felt no hope of progress for gaining profit.

And now, with Session Groceries partnership...

We learned about Session Groceries when Ms. Iloisa had a farm visit. She has shared her company’s advocacy on helping farmers like us and that’s where we started to see the brighter side of farming and got motivated to what we continue to do and to what we can do better for improvement. Ang malaking impact nito sa Farming industry ay mamumulat ang maraming farmers sa business side ng pagtatanim at hindi laging umaasa na sana makabenta or makarami ng harvest bagkus mabibigyan na din nila ng pansin ang crop programming,at tuloy tuloy na supply or all year round production, at matututu ang Maraming farmers to look into being a certified para maka compete sila sa mga high emd market, ito kasi ang nakikito ko na kakulangan sa Maraming magsasaka kung kaya’t kadalasan lagi silang nilalamangan ng mga ahente”

A Journey to success with your help...

What they consider as achievement…

They were able to expand their farm that’s in progress currently, which can take a year to make this happen before. They also consider their tunnel house as one of their achievement since they only had a small tunnel house before and they can’t even go inside. Today, they continue farming whether the climate is. Lastly, they are able to pay their debts in a shorter period of time than expected to pay in 3 years.

Because of customer’s support with Session Groceries’ advocacy, future plans are now very clear for Remico’s Farm...

They wanted to say THANK YOU by being consistent with a good quality product and affordable prices – reason why they are currently working on improving farming techniques lesser overheads and inputs but higher yields.

The Team wanted to expand for at least 5 farms 3-5 years from now, these farms will be greenhouses using a high-end technology for crops production like drip irrigation system, hydroponic, aquaponic for fish and prawns production. Their vision is very clear –their entire product should be one of the best qualities but has equality for every customer; To enable and empower our co-passionate farmers to reach their dreams & to get out of poverty thinking.

Farmers are well known to have a simple life, simple things - they got simple gadget and have been advised by Ms Iloisa to have it upgraded so they can also use it for better communication in this technology that we have, and sir Ron just said "wala pa yatang budget kaya idagdag nalang muna sa pangarap".

They are not selfish for what they’ve got. They also wanted to help & share what they’ve learned…

“Una sa lahat bago ako siguro magturo, ano muna ung mga mahalaga sa kanila when it comes to farming, like prefer nila na tinatanim, fast crop, perennials, fruiting veg, etc.
