Chemaly Farm

Jonas being a farmer for 9 years almost didn’t believe in farming for a living, but was motivated by Session Groceries and now having a gross income of 1.8M in just one year

Jonas from Chemaly farm thinks about the business being fragile. For having an inconsistent market, he loses hope for not having a good market where he could sell his products. He doesn’t settle for less, Jonas knows that as a farmer he has the right to sell his vegetables with the right price. He knows that if he accepts a very cheap price for the crops, he gets disappointed because he don;t get profit to sustain the expenses for the farm for the next cropping season. Jonas knows the value of being a farmer, the long wait for your crops to grow, the effort and energy you give to get a good quality harvest and the reason why he will stop farming if after all, traders will just buy the crops for a cheap price. He has been through bankruptcy and telling himself not to do farming anymore, look for a job that secures him to have money on a daily basis.

Getting to know Session Groceries

Everyone knows, the big sister is never selfish to her siblings. With that, Jonas knew Session Groceries from her sister Jocelyn from Ortega Farm. He still wanted to try one more time even if he still feels disappointed about what the farmer is getting from traders. He started to supply few of his vegetables, Jonas knew about the advocacy of Session Groceries and felt happy with the result that he is able to sell with the right price he's been aiming for a very long time. He was very motivated to go back in the field because of the opportunity that opened for him. Jonas was taught to have the main crop and how it will be available for the whole year.

For him, being with Session Groceries is the reason why he’s back in agriculture. He saw hope in this team, and this is the reason he still works hard, making the foundation of his farm stronger than before.

The reason for almost giving up

Jonas almost gave up because of being bankrupt, he was offered a very cheap price for his crops. Because for him, people never saw the effort and sacrifices a farmer does just to provide the people something to eat. A farmer works rain or shine. They wake up at dawn just to water the crops, going home late at night to make sure they finish the work that day and have another one by the next day. Jonas said a farmer sometimes doesn’t eat on time, but all this hard work they put into farming has a good result for being tied up with Session Groceries. Right now, Jonas still feels the trauma but with a very positive mind-set of being successful with farming.

Being back on track

There’s nothing wrong with trying, he was brave enough to do farming after experiencing not getting any profit at all. Jonas is grateful more than ever because his eyes were opened by Session Groceries that in farming, he can live. He can achieve his plans and is now striving hard to aim for that. The opportunity he had with Session Groceries is the reason for going back to farm, Jonas is ready for more opportunities and for making sure that the foundation he wanted for his farm is stronger than ever.
